Bwsted is doing something new to kick start the New Year.

Every month a topic will be chosen by the Bwsted editorial group.

Each week during that month there will be a different article featured on the chosen topic.

You can simple submit a video or piece of writing of your opinions of the subject. The first topic is social networking so here goes for the first week.

Social networking is a massive new world most of us are part of. There are so many social networking sites out there now and I don’t think there can ever be an expert on any certain one. These sites change so much every day with the content that people post on them it’s crazy. Facebook is meant to be the third biggest country on the planet.

Is social networking bad or dangerous? There is no right or wrong answer to this question but you can keep yourselves safe while using them. Always check your security settings once a week just to make sure nothing has changed. Never make personal information public to anyone.

The biggest thing is don’t put anything on social networking sites that you want to keep private because once it’s up its very hard to get rid of. If you see something on a site that shouldn’t be there then report it. Even if it doesn’t get removed you have still done what you can to keep someone else safe.

One important thing people need to remember is that age restrictions on websites are there for a reason. They are there to protect everyone and should always be followed on any site.

A lot of people are scared of social media. It’s become such a big part of people’s lives over a short space of time and it is quite scary. Information spreads faster than word of mouth now. It’s a brilliant, scary and crazy new world but use it properly and it’s amazing.
